2009 MERLOT ROSÉ
This is a very dry Rosé blended with 85% Merlot from Conner Lee Vineyard and 15% Semillon from Rosebud and Cave B Vineyards. We bled off the “Saignee” from the Merlot must after allowing a short period of skin contact to extract the dark color and tannins. The juice was then transferred to neutral French and American oak barrels to begin a slow cold fermentation lasting nearly 30 days. We then blended in our dry Semillon for an addition of crisp acidity, helping this wine to be enjoyed slightly chilled. After 6 months in oak, the wine was cold stabilized in March, and bottled with a slight addition of Merlot to adjust the color and aromas. The bouquet blooms with strawberries on the palate and finishes with a slight taste of bing cherries, strawberries and citrus. This wine is crafted to drink chilled on a warm summer day and will compliment a wide variety of foods. Alcohol 14.5%, Production 50 cases, Retail $20.00/bottle, Club $17.00/bottle
Our 2007 Merlot shows a subtle elegance, softer than some years which leads to earlier consumption. The grapes were picked in early October from 20 year old Conner Lee Merlot (100%) vines and developed for 21 months in New American Oak. The color is brilliant, dark, almost magenta, with a bouquet of black cherries. On the palate, you’ll find a velvety-soft texture with a quiet flavor of red cherries and plum, a splash of cocoa, and a lingering finish of licorice and mint. We are recommending this vintage as a perfect summer BBQ wine, particularly with dishes including mushrooms, though many will prefer to savor it on its own. Alcohol 14.5%, Production 98 cases, Retail $ 28.00/bottle, Club $ 23.80/bottle
Our latest Syrah is a blend of Klipsun Vineyard (Red Mountain) (37%) and Boushey Vineyard (63%) grapes come together to form this bold Syrah which will open up to reveal more and more complexity over 5-10 + years of bottle aging. Neutral oak (2001 – 2003 barrels) allow the peppery, varietal characteristics to come forward unmasked by other wood characteristics. The wine begins with a bouquet of sweet tobacco and brown sugar. Hints of black currents, clove, cigar box and toast may be detected in this smooth yet intense wine. This Syrah pairs well with strong aged cheeses and stands up well to complex beef and mushroom entrees as well as dark chocolates. Alcohol 15.2%, Production 196 cases, Retail $30.00 / Club $ 25.50
2006 SUNRISE BLEND
This is the 3rd year for our Sunrise blend where we combined Conner Lee Cabernet Sauvignon, Pepper Bridge Cabernet Sauvignon and Conner Lee Merlot and a touch of Chelle den Pleasant Cabernet Franc. Sunrise is wine with a screwtop finish meant to enjoy in the present for summer bbq’s and picnics. The deep dark fruit bouquet gives way to a rich middle and long black cherry or blackberry finish. Though a great burger wine, it will compliment many rich and complex beef or lamb dishes. Alcohol 14.5%, Production 98 cases, Retail $20.00/bottle, Club $17.00/bottle.
The weather during 2005 harvest was intense and varied, but for Red Sky this was a year of blends. In creating our “RED,” we arrived at a blend which is soft and elegant, yet bursting with flavor even in its youth. Your senses will delight in its almost buttery red, velvet (touch on the) tongue, with soft tannins and the type of richness encourages waiting 5 + years to allow the complexity to fully mature. This is a wine that pairs well with tri-tip or other hearty meat dishes, complex yet not heavily spiced vegetables, yet is elegant enough to enjoy on its own. Alcohol 13.8%, Production 190 cases 750 ml, 15 cases 375 ml, and 15 cases magnums, Retail $ 30.00/bottle, $75.00/magnum, $18.00/split, Club $ 25.50/bottle, $63.75/magnum, $15.30/split
2003 BORDEAUX BLEND
A harmony of Cabernet Sauvignon 57%, Merlot 36%, and Cabernet Franc 7% from some of Washington’s best vineyards including Conner Lee, Pepper Bridge, Chelle den Pleasant, and Seven Hills. Deep colored medium bodied, this wine has the supple aroma of raspberries and cedar. This perfectly balanced wine is soft and elegant like a Margaux and ready to drink now, but will gain complexity over the next 5 to10 years. Beautifully paired with velvety brie or braised lamb. Alcohol 15.2%, Production 340 cases, Retail $ 18.00/split, $ 30.00/bottle / Club $ 15.30/split $ 25.50/bottle
Our reserve Bordeaux style red wine was aged in 100 % new oak and blended first from our finest barrels to structure a wine to enjoy and compliment food in it’s youth, yet age gracefully. Savor the bouquet of raspberries, toasted almonds, cassis, and exotic spices. The taste shows subtle blackberries with hints of toast, minerals, licorice and the underlying structure of fruit carries the flavor on the palate for minutes. This is a tightknit wine to enjoy on it’s own, or decant to compliment cedar planked salmon, pork, or cumin & coriander rubbed lamb, or beef with carmelized onions & goat or triple crème cheeses. GOLD metal, 09' Seattle Wine Awards. Alcohol 14.5%, Production 168 cases, Retail $ 40.00/bottle, Club $ 34.00/bottle
Our 2006 Serendipity is best described as unctuous (rich, lush, intense wine with layers of concentrated soft, velvety fruit). This wine was blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a trace of Malbec in 50 % New Oak barrels (25 % French, 25 % American) and left to barrel age for 30 months. This wine will gain complexity and should age gracefully to 2016 and beyond. Cedar and Olallieberry (a combination of blackberry and raspberry) rise on the initial bouquet and continue during a long lingering taste, ending with a finish of dry tannins. The rich velvety dark wine is best suited with strong cheeses such as aged Gouda, a steak or even a chocolate torte. Alcohol 14.9%, Production 125 cases, Retail $ 40.00/bottle, Club $ 34.00/bottle
